Do you have constant or frequent pain and/or tightness, and find it difficult to relax?

The following specialized neuro-muscular techniques are wonderful manual treatments for decreasing pain, muscle tightness/spasms; improving motion, postural/functional alignment, and promoting a deep level of relaxation by directly affecting the neurological input into the body.  Myofascial Release (MFR), CranioSacral Therapy (CST) and Watsu will be included in your Physical Therapy treatment program as appropriate; and they may be selected as individual or combined treatments in your Wellness Program

Myofascial Release/CranioSacral

The Myofascial Release and CranioSacral Therapy techniques will be performed in combination to release restrictions in the fascial system that are causing compression and pain to the joints and soft tissue structures (including:  muscles, organs, nerves, circulatory and lymphatic systems) that they surround.  Release of these restrictions are performed manually throughout the entire body.  When the restrictions in the fascial system are released, the compression/pain will be decreased; mobility and postural/functional alignment will be improved.

I have received the following Myofascial Release training from the internationally recognized Physical Therapist John F. Barnes:  http://www.MyofascialRelease.com

Watsu

Watsu is a specialized aquatic technique created by Harold Dull.  The name Watsu originates from the combination of water and shiatsu.  Harold applied the meridian stretching body work of Zen Shiatsu to water.  The result was a unique passive stretching treatment that is believed to enhance the body's natural healing power by releasing the Qi, or energy/life force from physical, mental and emotional restrictions; thus allowing the greatest possible level of balance between the Body, Mind & Spirit.

I was fortunate to receive my Watsu training from Harold Dull, and was invited to co-author along with Physical Therapist Emily Dunlap, and Aquatic Specialist Sunny Mehler, the chapter "Rehabilitative benefits of Watsu", in Harold's 1993 publishing of his book "Watsu-Freeing the Body in Water".

Watsu is performed in a therapeutic temperatured pool, and the Therapist effortlessly floats you across the waters surface, as your entire body is gently stretched and massaged.  Watsu has been described in many different ways: "like flying on a cloud", "dancing a water ballet", "enjoying a really good dream or sleep" and even an "experience of what revisiting the womb might be like".  Watsu is an amazingly relaxing and nurturing experience, that has facilitated significant rehabilitative progress in people ranging from the occasional pain and tight muscles caused by the day's activities, to those who suffer with chronic neck and back pain; as well as promotion of muscle relaxation in people with neurological disorders.

The Holistic body works of Watsu, Myofascial Release and CranioSacral Therapy are wonderful techniques to receive, to treat specific pains and dysfunction; as well as, purely for relaxation, and to promote overall health and Wellness!
